Buffalo Nickel
Dig through your bag, car seats or couch cushions to find a coin. What is the year on that coin? What were you doing that year?
Oh, I got 2001. I think that we all remember what happened that year. That was a bad year for this country. If you believe the conspiracies, then some people in our government planned this to make money off of war… That makes it a bad year for the whole world.
Beyond the sadness and possibly terrible things that happened that year, that was actually a good year for me. That year, I got my first tattoo, got an awesome green couch, got back at the girl that my husband was cheating on me with, had lots of fun with new friends and came out.
Let's see, I got my first, and second tattoos in February of that year. I got my first tattoo and it had my husbands (at the time) initials in it. Then, a guy that we were friends with told me that he and his wife had a foursome with my husband (at the time) and another friend at a going away party. Since my husband (at the time) was in Korea, I did not get to kill him, I did however, mess around with the girl from the threesome's husband. Still feel a little bit bad about that, not because I hurt her, but because it took away any moral high ground that I had to stand on! I was able to communicate with my husband (at the time) and some of his friends, one, Stretch, who was coming back to the states a few months later. She and I stayed in touch, and she ended up moving in with me that May, so there was that. While she lived with me, before she turned into a total wanker, I had lots of fun with her, I experienced a lot of things I would not have without her. Including two girls I had crushes on fighting over me. That is another post ;). A few times I went out with the girlfriend of one of those girls, while she was in Korea, and a few times, we almost made out. Does that make me an almost tease, or almost slut? Or almost almost as bad as the girl that was sleeping with my husband (at the time)? Yes, I know that there are two almosts, I meant it that way…
Let's see… Then, Oh, I got that awesome green velvet couch… Love sear really, it was from some friends that were moving. The couch only lasted a while, since it was already on the way out when I got it, but it was awesome while I had it!
The, I made friends with all of the ladies, most of the ladies in the two buildings that faced each other. I was in one building, and the rest were in the other. At night we would sit in the middle of the grass with a fire going in a grill, and we would talk and enjoy the company. The best part was that all the husbands were gone, so we didn't have anyone to answer too, and the one of us that did work, had a salon, so we just spent time there getting haircuts and hanging out during the day. That lady was my first girlfriend, I guess…? She and I went out on a few dates, and we held hands in secret under the blanket at fire time…  I guess that is a kind of first girlfriend, right?
Let's see, I had my yellow car that year, and I loved that thing.
Oh, there was another couple that we hung out with; they were friends of my friend Heather and her husband. Roxie and… can't remember his name, but he was a tool.  I was into her, and she was into me from what I was told, and what I totally didn't see, because I never do! Anyhow, one night, we ALL went to a club in Clarksville, one of those places with different mini clubs in it. It was me and Stretch, her GF was out in the field, and Jerry and Heather and Jed (he was back by then) and Roxy and her tool, I mean husband. I don't think that there was anyone else with us? We went and got piercings before we went to the club, so I was at this club with my new belly button piercing, a bad idea… It was hurty! Anyhow, when we got back to our apartments, Roxy wanted to raid my closet and so I took her over to try things on, and from what I have been told (AND MISSED) I blew my chance with her, DOH! Either way, her tool, I mean husband showed up soon thereafter.
We all went out for my birthday on the 4th of September. That was fun, we went to the bar that Stretch hung out in. Her and her GF and other people, including one annoying girl who kept trying to hook up with me, and her boss Evelyn, the perpetual bull dyke… Not interested. I also got my first shot gun that night. Heather and Jeri came too, it was awesome… I made out with a cowgirl named Sara that night. I can't believe that I forgot that until now.
Then 9/11 happened, and things became somber. We still had fire time, but there were always helicopters flying over. There was a Humvee parked at the stop sign by our house. We used to take those soldiers water since it was so hot. There were still laughs, but there were more tears.
Then, in December, my husband (at the time) came home from Korea. Soon thereafter, we left for Virginia.
So, there you go, 2001 an awesome year, right up until 9/11.

Thanks for reading
