How do you communicate differently online than in person, if at all? How do you convey emotions in writing?
I do communicate differently in person versus writing, I think that everyone does. When you are speaking to someone you use more than words, that is just how it is. There are so many non verbal cues that go with the use of words that sometimes you don't even realize you are sending them. I know that I am guilty of this, as are many people that I talk to on a daily basis. It is just human nature, if we didn't, we'd all be robots.
In writing, especially in texts or email, there are emoticons. Cheesy, but somewhat effective.
In serious writing one must convey emotions with words, that is more difficult. You could write 'I was hurt when...' Or, I suppose there are other ways to express that. I was going to write something that expresses that, but my bus is here. I am deeply disappointed that the premature arrival of my transportation forces me to wrap up my blog before I can convey all of my thoughts...
