P.C.
Is political correctness a useful concept, or does it stifle honest discussion?

I guess that it depends on the conversation and those participating in it.

I think it is important to know those things in pretty much any situation... For instance, I walked to the bus stop this morning and when I got to my stop, there is hobo sleeping there. I felt forced to walk up to the next stop, for my own safety, so I wouldn't be begged from, etc. I really wanted to post something about it on Facebook, but since there is no telling who I will upset and what I would have started if I had. In that case, I do not know the personal feelings toward the homeless (drunk hobos who sleep at bus stops) so I didn't post it.

Honestly, I would have to say that people hide behind the term PC. It has been twisted and contorted by both sides of pretty much every issue until I am not sure what it really means.

There are some people who would want to use the N word, but would blame PC on not being able to. I think that it is an offensive term with negative connotations and a hurtful past, that for those reasons should not be used.

The reasons for or against calling me a carpet muncher, the reasons are pretty much the same, it is offensive, has an offensive connotation, and is usually used by people with narrow minds, at best.

I don't think that we have to be so PC, but think before we speak. To not be hurtful to others.

Wait, is that what PC is?
If so, I'm in.
However, I don't think that it is that simple.
