I don't think that I would write about a something substantial. Maybe a humorous blog? Maybe something about cheese? Maybe I would write about my awesome new project? Yep, that's it!

I am finally putting together a blanket that I had been working on to have done by my 40th birthday. With that less than two weeks away, and since I always meet my self imposed deadlines (please note the sarcasm here) I have decided to get it done now.

I have worked on squares for this blanket for at least two years now, on and off. I have many, but not enough for a project of this size. So I decided to raid other projects that I had started and not finished (because I start many things and never finish them), I have many pieces to work with.

So far I have put together three bigger pieces and am working on a fourth today. I will see where I am tonight and then figure the best way to put it all together. I have a feeling it will involve much 'filler', but luckily I have a 60 gallon tote nearly full of yarn, so the real issue will be actually putting it together.

I have left the seams showing and I do not plan to cover them. Honestly I can't even think of how, but I'm sure I could come up with something if that is what I wanted to do. I don't though.

The blanket is also a bit lopsided, for lack of a better word. This is OK as well. This is my '40 year blanket'. It is a statement, so to speak, about my life up to this point. It has not been perfect, some of my seems show, some are backwards, some of my life is lopsided, it always has been. I am not perfect, and neither is my blanket, but in the end, my blanket will keep me warm, which is the job it has in this life, and I will do my job of living my life. Lopsided but well.

Do you believe in reincarnation? That is a tough one, but very funny that it is 'assigned' on the anniversary of my first marriage... I think that there are different versions of things all through life, stages. So, there are different stages of relationships, the honeymoon, the comfort zone, and finally, using the toilet with the door open... For example. Why can't there be different phases or stages of life? Once a scrounger, always a scrounger

Robert's last day of freshman year is next a Wednesday, that alone is crazy, but it made me remember something. The last day of my freshman year, I actually wanted to go to school. I said good bye to the teachers I liked, but after that, a friend of mine and I went through the halls, and came upon tons of lockers that people had not bothered to clean out... So there were binders and paper and more all over for the taking. I remember lots of loose leaf paper, and I took home as much as I could carry. Now, was that because I am, at heart, a scrounger? Or was it my love of school and office supplies? When I was in 6th grade, same thing, went to the last day, and came home with 'stuff'. However, this time it was supplies AND art projects people had not taken home, including GIANT dice.
